Holiday Activity Fund: Creative Videos Tutorials
As part of the Holiday Activity Fund, we will be releasing a collection of creative video tutorials throughout Summer. Each video will cover a different aspect of digital creativity, that you can do at home, FOR FREE! The areas we’re covering are:
- Animating FlipaClip (for TikTok)
- Glitch Art.
- Micro:Bit Coding (Tamagotchi)
- Digital Music Making (with Chrome Music Lab)
- Graphic Design (Face Swapping)
- Pixel Art (Pixelate Yourself)
Who?
We have designed the videos to be suitable for beginners so no previous experience is necessary. The activities should be suitable for anyone aged 8+ to complete on their own. They also make great activities for the whole family to try together.
Price?
It will be FREE to view out videos. All we ask is for a Like on social media or to subscribe to our YouTube channel.
Requirements?
Due to the sessions being of a digital nature you will need:
- A device connected to the internet, to watch the tutor’s video stream.
- A Tablet or similar device to use for each activity.
Animating FlipaClip (for TikTok)
Let’s get animating!
In this tutorial Sean will be using the FlipaClip app to add animations to videos which are perfect for sharing on TikTok. We will show you how to set up a project, import video, add layers, use brushes and animate on top of the video.
Once you have completed your animation we will show you how to export a video which can be set to TikTok and many other social networks and messaging apps.

Digital Music Making (with Chrome Music Lab)
Let’s make some music!
In this tutorial Sean will be using the free Chrome Music Lab website to show you how to write beats and compose your own music online.
Once you have completed your song you will be able to show you how to share the finished track online and share with friends and family.

Pixel Art (Pixelate Yourself)
Become an 8-Bit Beauty
In this tutorial, Paul will be using Pixel Studio for pixel art app to show you how to turn yourself into a digital sprite. We will show you the basic tools and skills required to draw a pixel art version of yourself.
Once you have completed your pixel art, the next step is animate your sprite. We will teach you the basic techniques of animation to bring your pixel character to life.

Micro:Bit Coding
Learn how to code Micro:Bits
In this tutorial, Paul will be using the micro:bit website (https://makecode.microbit.org/) to show you how to create our very own Tamagotchi or digital pet. We are using the power of block-based coding to create all the different needs of our digital pet. These needs/actions can be anything you like, whether that be playing with them, feeding them, cleaning them etc. For all these actions we will learn the basics of animation, so we can animate the action and response of the pet to what is happening.

Glitch Art (Photo Editing)
Let’s Get Glitchy
Using free to access tools, we will show you how to manipulate images, to create unique and interesting glitch art. It’s a great way to learn about photo editing, and you’ll leave with your own awesome work.
