Project Overview

Our FREE monthly Mako Coding Club is a fun and supportive place for young people from Halton to get together to enjoy learning coding skills, completing challenges and meeting new people. We will have sessions running in both Widnes and Runcorn from November until next spring.

Throughout the project we will introduce a range of activities including:

  • Video Game Coding
  • Micro:bit Coding
  • Code-a-Drone
  • Code-a-Sphero
  • Crumble Coding

We’ve developed the project in partnership with STFC Sci-Tech Daresbury and Halton Libraries with funding from Halton Borough Council.

Who Can Get Involved?

Participants for this project:

  • Must be between 10 and 16 years of age
  • Must live in Halton
  • Should have an interest in learning coding skills (but do not need prior experience!)

When and Where will the Project Happen?

Coding Club runs from November 2022 to March 2023.

The project is made up of monthly two-hour sessions, which will be held on Thursday evenings after school. Each month the same session topic will be delivered in both Widnes and Runcorn, so we recommend that each participant attends either the Widnes or the Runcorn session in a month, not both.

To book places at either our Widnes or Runcorn club please view our Eventbrite Collection, where you will also find all of the dates, times and locations of each session.

Where Will the Sessions Take Place?

Widnes: Widnes Library, Victoria Square, Widnes, Cheshire WA8 7QT

Runcorn: Grangeway Youth & Community Centre, Runcorn WA7 5LY

Are There Any Costs Involved?

These sessions are FREE of charge, thanks to funding from Halton Borough Council.

Spaces are limited so booking a place in advance is essential.

Do I Need To Bring Any Equipment?

All equipment will be provided for the sessions by Mako Create, so participants just need to arrive on time for their session ready to code!
