Creative Design for Digital Marketing | 9 weeks | Age 19+

Boost Creativity in Halton project is part of our Creative & Digital Careers in Halton programme which (thanks to European Social Fund) provides FREE training opportunities in Digital Arts & Technology skills for unemployed adults aged 19+ who live in Halton (Widnes & Runcorn).

Attendance:

This short course will run as 9 weekly, 2 hour sessions which will be held online (via Zoom) with real tutors, who will teach you and be there to answer your questions.

Dates: 10.3.2021-31.3.2021 (4 weeks) then continuing after Easter break 21.4.2021-19.5.2021 (5 weeks)

Time: 10am-12pm

Who is this course for?

This course is for learners who are interested in gaining a basic understanding of marketing and audiences across digital platforms. Great if you are interested in developing creative skills, setting up your own business, developing your skills for a future job, further education or career opportunities.

  • How to Identify and Research Competitors
  • Introduction To Marketing Platforms
  • Creating Basic Graphics for Online Marketing Materials

Through expert tuition, small class sizes and access to a variety of digital tools and technology, this project will open up a world of opportunities to you when you discover that you can develop the skills necessary to consider a future in the Digital Arts and Technology industry.

How will I be assessed?

This is a non-accredited course, however, linked to the Recognising and Recording Progress and Achievement (RARPA) framework you will be expected to build up a portfolio which will be assessed by your tutor against the course criteria.

There will be a variety of activities and it is a great opportunity to meet new people. You will be given supportive feedback from your tutor on a weekly basis to help you develop your skills.

During these sessions, you will be encouraged to further enhance your skills and knowledge outside of the classroom, by completing the iDEA (inspiring digital enterprise award) award Silver.

What will the lessons be like?

All of the sessions are delivered online to small class sizes (maximum 10) by two tutors with industry experience.

What are the entry requirements?

You will be required to complete some written work as part of this course which will require a good basic understanding of English and Maths. You will also need to be able to work on multiple tabs on a computer at once and have a good basic understanding of using different software packages such as Word (Microsoft), Google docs, Pages (Mac OS), internet browsers etc.

Participants will be required to set up online social network accounts (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.) and accounts on other online marketing systems (e.g. Email Marketing, Graphic Editing Apps, Social Media Management Tools). You will not be able to complete the course without this – but we will advise you which accounts you will need during the course.

Incentive:

As an incentive for successfully completing* the course, participants will receive a £70 Amazon voucher.

(*successful completion means attending all 9 weeks and completing all work and ILP’s.)

Who’s it for?

We are looking for people who fulfil the following criteria (you MUST meet ALL of these):

  • Aged 19 and over
  • A resident of Halton Borough, UK
  • Unemployed
  • Legally a resident in the UK and able to take up paid employment in an EU member state

Are there any technical requirements?

Yes. The course will be delivered remotely (online), enabling you to learn from the comfort of your own home. Participants will be required to access Google Classrooms to take part (guidance on setting this up will be provided) so it is essential that students have access to a computer with internet access as well as their own Google/Gmail account.

Weekly sessions will be delivered to you via video conference with your tutor (Zoom). You will need to have access to a webcam and microphone.

Where?

These sessions will be “virtual” sessions (not in-person) and will be hosted on Zoom, which is a popular and safe virtual meeting platform.

Things you will need.

Due to the sessions being of a digital nature you will need:

  • A device connected to the internet, with the Zoom application downloaded.
  • Another device (Ideally a computer) connected to the internet, with a browser that can load chrome web browser.
  • If you would like to take part in this project but do not have the equipment required, please let us know as we may be able to assist with providing equipment for you.

Does it cost anything?

All of the sessions are completely FREE of charge thanks to funding from the European Social Fund.

In fact, we will give you a £70 Amazon voucher for successfully completing the course!
