Do you want to learn the basics of Coding from your own home?

Halton Adult Learning and Mako Create are continuing to work in partnership, this time we will be bringing Web Design to the comfort of your own home as our tutors stream lessons.

Topics Covered include:

  • Basic coding inputs and outputs
  • Constants and variables
  • Loops and functions
  • Logic and sensors
  • MakeCode and JavaScript.

This is a 10 session course, with weekly lessons each Friday 2PM-4PM (or alternatively Tuesday 7PM-9PM)

The course starts: 8th May 2020 at 2PM (or 5th May at 7PM)

Who is this course for:

This is a term course for learners who are interested in gaining a basic understanding of Coding. During the course, you will learn how to program a Micro:Bit using block-based code and Javascript programming languages. This course could help you to move onto further qualifications or employment opportunities linked to the coding industry.

This course is open to anyone age 19+ who lives in the Liverpool City Reg

What Are The Entry Requirements?


There is an expectation that you will hold an Entry 3 Level qualification in Maths and English, you will also need a basic understanding of computers (i.e. entry-level 2 qualification in IT, or higher). 


We do offer additional courses if you are interested in developing your English, Maths and IT skills. Please speak to your tutor if you are interested in there or any other courses we offer.


Students’ will be required (with guidance, if required) to set up online accounts (e.g. Google).

Are there any Technical Requirements?


Yes. The course will be delivered remotely, enabling you to learn from the comfort of your own home. Students will be required to access Google Classrooms to take part (Guidance on setting this will be provided). It’s essential that students have a device with internet access. The ideal device to use during the course is a computer. If you don’t have a computer but have access to a tablet please let us know as this may be suitable. You will also need a Google/Gmail account.


Weekly sessions will be delivered to you via video conference with your tutor. If you have access to a webcam and microphone, this could be beneficial but not essential.
