Have you ever wanted to create your own computer games?

This online workshop is the perfect introduction to those interested in coding and computer games. During the sessions, you will be given a crash course on how you can use a smartphone, tablet or computer to start coding your own computer games. You will learn how to go from idea to publishing a computer game online and get hands-on learning about:

This is a 4 week course

Session 1 – Wednesday 24th June 2020 at 16:30 to 18:00

Session 2 – Wednesday 1st July 2020 at 16:30 to 18:00

Session 3 – Wednesday 8th July 2020 at 16:30 to 18:00

Session 4 – Wednesday 15th July 2020 at 16:30 to 18:00

This is an online workshop. If you’re eligible for the project, we will email you a zoom code a day before each session.

Whilst you must be part of the Short Breaks Project, no previous coding experience is needed to take part in this workshop, meaning it’s perfect for beginners. We suggest a minimum age of 8 for our activities. If you’re not quite old enough why not see if an adult can stay and help you.

We love delivering these sessions to young people in Halton. To help enable us to continue delivering these sessions we have introduced a donation system for tickets. This system allows you to choose the amount you would like to donate. A link to purchase tickets will be emailed to you closer to the time, the minimum donation is £1.

Due to the sessions being of a digital nature you will need:

– A device connected to the internet, to watch the tutor’s video stream via Zoom

– Another device connected to the internet (we recommend a computer or laptop) to create your game on

– The MakeCode Arcade Website

– Check out our YouTube channel to see the workshop in action!
