Easter Holiday Activities – Retro Video Game Design Camp
*This activity club is for young people who are eligible for Free School Meals.
Along with our partners Digital Arts Box we are delighted to be able to offer a Retro Video Game Design Camp for young people aged 8-16, as part of our Holiday Activity Programme during Easter Holidays in Halton.
During this 4-day Video Game Design Camp, the young people participating will learn about creating video games using Bloxels & Makecode Arcade. They will get to develop design skills and learn to code their very own retro video games. The session will look at a variety of aspects and techniques whilst building retro-style video games.
We will cover topics like:
- Character Design
- Level Design
- Making a Platformer Game
- Maze Games
- Testing Games
Who can get involved?
No previous experience is required, these activities are suitable for young people of all abilities. We are looking for young people who fulfil the following criteria and are able to commit to attending all four sessions:
- Aged 8-16
- A Halton resident
- Eligible for free school meals
There are a maximum of 15 places available for participants on this project.
When does the project start?
This project is made up of 4 days of activities throughout the Easter Holidays:
- 4th April 2022 at 10am – 2pm
- 5th April 2022 at 10am – 2pm
- 6th April 2022 at 10am – 2pm
- 7th April 2022 at 10am – 2pm
Where will the sessions take place?
All of the sessions will take place at:
Grangeway Community Centre, Grangeway, Runcorn WA7 5LY.
Do I need to bring anything?
Lunch will be provided, so you don’t need to bring your own packed lunch, but can do if you prefer. Digital Arts Box will bring all of the equipment required for the activities.
