2022 has been a great year for introducing new faces at Mako Create and our sister organisation Digital Arts Box. As well as a whole host of new creative freelancers we’ve added to our roster this year we’ve been working extensively with two young volunteers, Grace Lawrence and Blake Watson.

Check out the carousel of images of Grace and Blake in action at our Holiday Activity Fund over summer and our Animation and Creators’ clubs!:

Grace has had a super busy 2022. As well as finding time to help out our young participants Grace has been working with the 2nd Weston Girlguiding unit, is in the process of gaining her silver Duke of Edinburgh award and is studying for her GCSEs! Grace has been raising funds for a hiking trip in Norway with the Guides, and we’ve been delighted to perform the role of assessors of the volunteering unit of her DofE award.

We first encountered Blake as he worked with the Prince’s Trust in our building at Grangeway Community Centre. Very soon he began volunteering with us on a range of projects and we have been delighted to work with him as a paid freelancer on our Short Breaks provision.

Both Grace and Blake have been fantastic with us so far and we can’t wait to work with more superb young volunteers in 2023.
